To manage and lead a team of HSW professionals providing support and guidance to the operational teams to deliver and comply with the project and CWA HSW goals and objectives throughout the pre‑construction, construction, and post‑construction process, ensuring all legal obligations are met. To provide a high level of support to the operational teams to enable the safe delivery of work. To work closely with the HSW Lead – Marine & Tunnelling providing tactical support and HSW data and feedback from the work stream. This role will be assigned to the Marine & Tunnelling stream essential in helping us achieve the project milestone.
Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions:
- Communicate and implement the HSW strategy.
- Provide advice, support, input and direction to the Tunnelling team to enable them to deliver successful bids, early engineering studies, mobilisation and ultimately delivery of the project in a coherent and coordinated manner.
- Build solid relationships with stakeholders and can deliver on customer strategic and tactical requirements.
- In conjunction with the Client, Project & HSW Lead and HSW Director, carry out project HSW performance reviews and report as required.
- Able to lead and manage the HSW team including supporting the PDR process.
- Work with HR on developing resource including recruitment and interview.
- Undertake Health and Safety compliance evaluations, tours and audits as required to ensure sufficient assurance of project activities.
- Able to identify and rank risk associated with CWA work activities.
- Able to prepare fact driven reports following inspections, tours, audits and investigations.
- Support the implementation of and ensure compliance with the Sizewell C (SZC) project standards and the CWA Safety Management System (SMS).
- Able to build relationships with the CWA project teams and wider interested stakeholders.
What are we looking for? Knowledge & Skills:
- Must have experience in leading and managing teams.
- Must have a detailed, technical knowledge and experience Health and safety legislation, regulations and guidance.
- Experience of working on Major Infrastructure Projects including Tunnelling / Mining.
- Must have prior experience of providing leadership and support to operational and functional teams and of working at a senior level.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive HSW culture, by providing constructive feedback to others around their performance, strengths and development needs.
- Able to engage at all levels within the CWA operational team structure.
- High competence in accident and incident investigation.
- Able to use data and information for the preparation of HSW reports.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Manager competence.
