Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future. Hard Systems Assistant Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C. As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C, a 3.2‑gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, playing a key role in our energy future for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.

What will you do? We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our team. This role is ideal for someone at the early stage of their career who is eager to learn, keen to get hands‑on experience, and interested in developing a future career in project management, digital transformation or process improvement. You will support the delivery of projects across our team, working closely with project managers, stakeholders, and technical teams. In particular the role will be to support the implementation and launch of CWA One, the CWA’s Integrated Management System (IMS). This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop both technical and professional skills, with clear pathways for growth as you build experience.

Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions:

  • Assist in the delivery of the strategy team’s mobilisation and improvement projects as required, with particular focus on assisting in delivery of the IMS project.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects across the team.
  • Assist with maintaining project plans, schedules, documentation, and reports.
  • Work with stakeholders to gather information, track actions, and support communication.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal tools and SharePoint sites.
  • Support the creation of clear, user‑friendly content and materials (including light graphic design where required).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • Actively engage in learning project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.

What are we looking for?

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong IT literacy, with confidence using Microsoft 365 tools (including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in project management, project delivery, and digital change.
Essential:
  • High level of enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
  • Interest in developing a career in project management, digital transformation, or process improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and team members.
  • Comfortable asking questions, seeking feedback, and learning on the job.
  • Proactive, positive, and adaptable approach to work.
Desirable:
  • Experience or interest in project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2 – formal certification not required).
  • Aware of or exposure to SharePoint development, such as site creation, lists, libraries, workflows, or page design.
  • Basic graphic design skills, such as creating clear visuals, layouts, or diagrams (e.g. PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe, or similar tools).
  • Experience working in a team environment or supporting structured workstreams.
