Consultant in Palliative Care Medicine – Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust
We are seeking an exceptional Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join our team at the North London Hospice and play a vital role in shaping the future of our services.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist medical care for patients on our inpatient unit and in the community. Additionally, you will participate in the regional on-call service, offering your expertise to patients and families across the region.
To be considered for this role, you must be a fully registered member of the General Medical Council with a current license to practice. You should be on the Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine or within six months of obtaining your Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.

This post is aimed at providing clinical support and leadership for inpatients and those supported by Community services in Enfield and Haringey (East Team) at North London Hospice.
The hospice is currently undertaking some transformation work in the clinical services which will design services to support unplanned and rapid response work and develop virtual ward community beds. The post holder will be involved in the development and embedding of these developments and ongoing service review.
The post holder will be primarily on the inpatient unit at North London Hospice (NLH) but will provide two sessions of community team cover. The post holder will take part in the regional on-call service.

Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service of the highest standard. Work with the multi-disciplinary team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines which develop and maintain good working practices.
Provide effective clinical leadership for all staff in the hospice and hospital through positive collaboration with colleagues. Offer support and leadership and educational/clinical supervision to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Provide shared clinical responsibility for all patients under the care of the hospice together with the other consultants. Provide clinical responsibility for inpatients admitted to the In Patient Unit (IPU) at North London Hospice, working alongside the multiprofessional team.
Ensure patient care is evidence-based and/or best common practice. Ensure clinical practice complements and facilitates the provision of multi-disciplinary care, recognizing the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and family.
Ensure that all prescribing is in accordance with hospice and Trust policies and statutory requirements. Ensure accurate and timely clinical information and records are maintained on all patients.
