The role
As a Solutions Engineer, you’ll be the technical authority supporting new business and shaping customer solutions from early discovery through to handover. You’ll work closely with Sales, Delivery, and Product teams to design solutions that are:
- Technically robust
- Operationally deliverable
- Commercially sound
The role has a strong focus on connectivity and secure networking, particularly SD‑WAN and SASE using Fortinet technologies, alongside opportunities across our wider portfolio including Security, Cloud, Backup & Disaster Recovery, and Managed Services.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading technical discovery sessions with prospective and existing customers
- Translating business needs into secure, scalable, and cost‑effective solutions
- Designing architectures, proposals, and supporting technical documentation
- Acting as the subject‑matter expert in customer presentations, workshops, and tenders
- Validating technical feasibility and risk before commercial commitment
- Proof of Concept (PoC) leadership
- Assessing when a PoC or trial is required
- Defining success criteria and technical outcomes
- Owning technical delivery and go / no‑go recommendations
- Ensuring smooth transition into delivery when solutions go live
- Feeding market insight into service development and roadmap planning
- Influencing improvements across SD‑WAN, cloud, hosted infrastructure, DRaaS, and managed services
- Supporting go‑to‑market messaging and sales enablement
- Internal enablement
- Coaching sales and account teams on propositions and technical differentiators
- Building repeatable pre‑sales processes and templates
- Acting as a trusted bridge between sales, SOC, delivery, and support teams
What we’re looking for
- Strong background in networking and managed services
- Hands‑on experience designing SD‑WAN solutions, ideally with Fortinet
- Experience with Veeam (Backup & DR), Microsoft Azure / M365, and managed IT or security services is highly desirable
- Comfortable engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Clear communicator with strong documentation skills
- Commercially aware — able to balance cost, capability, and risk
- Enjoys problem‑solving, solution design, and complex customer conversations
- Work with industry‑leading vendors and modern technologies
- Play a genuine role in shaping products and service strategy
