Job Purpose: Commsworld are looking to complement its existing team with additional Data Cabling Engineers to support its continued growth across the UK. As a Data Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for installing both copper and fibre optic network cabling infrastructures in a wide variety of buildings across both the public and private sectors and working within the MoD estates. A Commsworld Data Cabling Engineer should have excellent installation standards and attention to detail, whilst following the installation design drawings and specification. You will take great pride in delivering high quality consistent and compliant installations to meet both Commsworld and their Data cabling engineer customers’ expectations.
Key Responsibilities & Skills Required:
- 5+ years’ experience in the installation of network cabling infrastructures in a wide variety of building types.
- Fully conversant in UTP Category 5e, UTP Category 6, UTP Category 6a, Voice and Fibre Optic installation practices, methodologies, and standards.
- Copper and Fibre cable termination, fibre optic fusion splicing inclusive of testing using the latest network infrastructure test equipment.
- Installation of all cable containment systems including PVC and Galvanized steel trunking, cable tray, basket, and conduits.
- Conversant with latest Health & Safety infrastructure construction guidelines, standards, fire safety and asbestos awareness.
- An excellent problem solver, proactive, flexible, and creative in your approach to each installation.
- Industry qualification, City & Guilds or BTEC in data cabling system.
- Excellent time management, coordination skills and able to prioritise workload to meet project requirements.
- An ECS Card certification.
- A positive attitude to working on one’s own and within a team to achieve project goals.
- Willingness to travel and stay away when required.
- Superb verbal communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience of working within a fast-paced and ever-changing team environment.
- Communicating with external and internal stakeholders to support the delivery of the project and ensure project goals are achieved.
- Willingness to undertake specific customer required training and accreditations.
- Full and clean driving license.
