We are looking for an experienced 2nd / 3rd Line Network Engineer with a strong focus on LAN and Wireless networking, ideally with hands-on experience of Aruba technologies. This role combines operational support (fault tickets and escalations) with project work, delivering high-quality network solutions for our customers. You will be a technically strong engineer with excellent customer-facing skills, comfortable working independently while also collaborating with colleagues, customers, and third-party vendors.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex network incidents, primarily related to wired and wireless infrastructure.
- Manage and progress fault tickets through to resolution within agreed SLAs.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
- Produce clear technical notes, incident reports, and documentation.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for LAN and WiFi networks.
Projects & Change
- Assist with the design, implementation, and optimisation of LAN and WLAN solutions.
- Carry out network changes in line with change management processes.
- Work closely with customers during project delivery, from planning through to handover.
- Support and deliver network projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
Customer Engagement
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in customer meetings (remote and on-site) to discuss incidents, designs, and improvements.
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
- Act as a trusted technical adviser to customers.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a 2nd or 3rd line network engineering role.
- Strong knowledge of LAN and WiFi technologies.
- Solid understanding of: Switching & VLANs; Wireless standards (802.11); Network security fundamentals; Troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Experience working with ticketing systems and incident management processes.
- Experience supporting network-related projects alongside BAU support.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience in customer environments (MSP or enterprise).
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Aruba, Cisco, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience with Aruba networking products, including Aruba Wireless Access Points & Switches, Aruba Airwave, Aruba Central, Aruba ClearPass.
Working Arrangements
- You must be based in Scotland and able to travel when required.
- Hybrid Home / Our Edinburgh office.
- Customer sites (primarily within Scotland but may include other sites within the UK on occasion).
