Are you passionate about governance, audit and risk management? Would you like to use your experience to support an organisation that makes a difference to its members and community?
Commsave Credit Union is looking for a committed professional to join our Audit & Risk Sub-Committee (ARSC) as an Independent Member.
As we continue to grow and enhance our services, you’ll play an important role in overseeing our approach to risk management and governance. Working alongside our committee, Board and senior management team, you’ll help safeguard our values, guide key decisions and support sustainable growth.
This is a rewarding opportunity to share your expertise, gain valuable experience and contribute to an organisation focused on delivering exceptional service to its members.
What you’ll be doing
- Attending and contributing to ARSC meetings every other month, lasting approximately 2–3 hours.
- Reviewing and recommending the appointment of internal and external auditors.
- Monitoring risk management strategies and ensuring the Credit Union’s Risk Register is kept up to date.
- Contributing to discussions on corporate governance and recommending improvements.
- Supporting the development of risk appetite statements and ensuring effective audit processes are in place.
- Reporting to the Board of Directors on audit and risk matters.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in finance, audit, risk management or corporate governance.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess risks and audit processes.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to contribute to discussions that influence the strategic direction of the Credit Union.
- A passion for supporting a growing non-profit organisation and contributing to our mission.
- Someone who shares our values of being professional, ethical and friendly.
What’s in it for you?
As a volunteer, you’ll make a meaningful contribution to a non-profit organisation while developing your own skills and experience. You’ll work closely with the ARSC Chair, Board Members and Senior Management, gaining insight into the Credit Union’s operations and helping to influence key decisions.
Sub-committee members are also viewed favourably for potential future roles on the Board, providing a valuable pathway for those interested in contributing to the longer-term development and governance of Commsave.
Time commitment: Around 20 hours per year, plus occasional events and training sessions as needed. The Sub-Committee currently meets every other month on a Tuesday afternoon for approximately 2–3 hours.
Expenses: Travel expenses are covered. We’ll also reimburse caring costs for children, elderly family members or other dependants while you attend meetings.
Term: We ask for an initial commitment of three years, with opportunities to renew and potentially move to a role on the Board of Directors.
This is an exciting time to join Commsave Credit Union and help shape our future, while building your own expertise in governance and risk management.
