Bore Place is looking for a new Finance Director for 22 hours per week to help us achieve the next stage in our development. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Finance Director will be responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day financial management of the Trust, financial compliance and the development and oversight of our Financial Strategy. The successful candidate will provide commercial focus, lead on financial compliance and governance, and oversee strong and effective financial administrative functions and reporting. Ideally, you will have experience of providing this function for a non‑for‑profit organisation in the charity sector.

Our mission is to enhance the planet in all that we do, to inspire people to live and work sustainably and lead happy and fulfilling lives. We provide a unique venue, educational programmes for young people, public activities and courses, and a site that is open to all. We are now at one of the most exciting stages in our development, approaching our 50th birthday in 2027. Our 5‑year Strategic Plan is in place to guide and focus our work, we have strong cash flows and have recently invested significantly in our infrastructure. The success of this position will help shape our future – a future focused on creating a paradigm shift in the UK in its approach to nature, farming, climate, and the education of children and young people and our most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
Responsibilities: The role will be instrumental in finding financial solutions to enable the Trust to deliver its Vision and Mission. You will line‑manage the Accounts Administrator, who will deliver the day‑to‑day financial administration and finance system, draft reports and will support the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and the auditor. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant, with strong technical and strategic financial skills, experience in charity accounting, the financial and commercial acumen to support our development and a commitment to our mission and vision. Above all, you will have the attention to detail required to ensure organisational compliance, coupled with a desire to enable sustainable growth.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 3 years post‑qualification experience
- Experience of managing the finance function of an organisation, reflecting the key duties of this role
- Experience of managing audits and reporting statutory accounts
- Proven track record of leading, managing and motivating people
- Ideally, experience of managing the finances of a Charity (including a trading arm)
