Help preserve history. Build a legacy.

Imagine using your stonemasonry skills to conserve some of the UK's most significant war memorials and cemeteries, ensuring future generations never forget the sacrifices of those who served.

As the global leader in commemoration, caring for over 13,000 sites across the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and beyond, we are looking for a skilled and passionate Stonemason to join our specialist Works Team.

This is more than a stonemasonry role. It's an opportunity to work on unique heritage structures, develop specialist conservation skills, and make a lasting contribution to sites of national and international importance

What you’ll be doing

Working independently and as part of a highly skilled team, you’ll carry out the repair, conservation and structural maintenance of war graves, memorials and stone monuments, primarily across London and the South East.

No two days are the same. One week you could be restoring historic stonework in a prominent memorial site, the next supporting specialist conservation projects elsewhere in the UK. You’ll work outdoors, travel to a variety of locations, and play a vital role in safeguarding our heritage estate.

What’s in it for you?

  • Opportunity to work on nationally significant heritage and memorial sites
  • Ongoing training and development in specialist conservation stonemasonry techniques
  • Company van provided for work use
  • Professional, supportive team environment
  • All accommodation and expenses covered for required overnight stays
  • A varied role offering travel, independence and meaningful work
  • The chance to make a real difference by preserving the memory of those who served

About the role

  • Mobile role with travel across London, the South East and occasionally wider UK locations
  • Based within a reasonable commute of Brookwood
  • Average 37 hours per week, worked seasonally
  • Occasional overnight stays required, sometimes up to 4 nights per week during specific projects
  • Outdoor, hands‑on work requiring a good level of physical fitness

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Stonemasonry (or equivalent), or is working towards qualification
  • Significant practical experience in stonemasonry, stone repair or general building works
  • Experience handling, repairing and conserving stone structures to a high standard
  • A full UK driving licence, ideally comfortable and experienced at driving a vehicle up to 3.5 tons,
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Experience working independently and within small teams
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship
  • A genuine interest in heritage conservation and preserving important sites

What We Offer:

  • Generous pension scheme with employer contributions up to 10%
  • Life Assurance of up to 6 x salary
  • Training and development opportunities
  • A generous holiday allocation of 25 days (plus 5 additional days for every year served up to 5 years), plus paid public holidays and office closure between Christmas and New Year, pro rata.
  • To compensate for working additional hours over the course of a year, there are an additional 7 paid non‑working days at Christmas.
  • Employee Benefits: 24‑hour wellbeing helpline, Discount Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Workwear, PPE, van and tools and equipment
  • Flexible working arrangements

Everyone who works with us shares our CARE values: Commitment, Ambition, Respect and Excellence.

Every day, our teams help protect some of the most important commemorative sites in the world. If you're passionate about craftsmanship, heritage and making your work truly matter, we'd love to hear from you.

As this is an active role, we will be interviewing as we go along, and the role will close when we have an offer accepted by a preferred candidate.

We believe creating a diverse environment enriches our organisation and strengthens our mission, therefore, we welcome applications from everybody. Join our inclusive environment where every individual is valued.
