Overview
Tidewater Community College invites qualified professionals to join as an Accounting Adjunct. This part-time position supports courses in accounting and may involve classroom, remote (Zoom), or online instruction to a diverse student population. Location: Norfolk - 710. FLSA: Exempt.
Responsibilities
- Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in accounting.
- Align course activities with student learning outcomes; employ active learning strategies and appropriate technology; provide prompt, meaningful feedback to students.
- Deliver instruction in support of stated learning outcomes; participate in student surveys of instruction; conduct meaningful and timely assessments of student learning, including at least one assessment within the first 15% of class; analyze evaluations and implement improvements as needed.
- Possibly teach during day, evening, and/or weekend as determined by the course schedule.
- Hold at least one office hour per week for each course assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Masters in teaching field or Master’s with 18 graduate semester hours in teaching field
- Ability to communicate effectively in an electronic format
Additional Considerations
- Teaching experience at the college level
- Knowledge of Canvas or other learning management systems
- Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success
- Sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes information and instructional technology resources
