The Norfolk Health Department is seeking a PH Physician Supervisor to serve as the Clinic Director and chief clinician for the health district, providing clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for public health clinical services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervision of physicians and other licensed healthcare professionals
  • Oversight of clinic operations
  • Quality management
  • Workforce development
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Strategic planning
  • Providing direct patient care
  • Serving as the district's clinical authority to ensure delivery of safe, effective, equitable, and patient-centred public health services

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and clinical preventive medicine
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Skilled in the use of automation for data collection and analysis, presentations, and teaching
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of Communicable Disease Investigation and surveillance activities
  • Experience in managing medical professionals and programs, preferably in public health

Additional Considerations:

  • Board certification/eligibility in preventive medicine or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ability to represent the District Health Director in community events and partner engagements
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to oversee multiple departments, including office management, HR, and finance
  • Excellent communicator
