Commonwealth Games Australia (CGA) leads Australia’s preparation and participation at the Commonwealth Games. As we look ahead to Glasgow 2026, our focus is on building a strong, united team that continues Australia’s proud history of success at the Games. In Birmingham 2022, Australia topped the medal tally with 67 gold, 57 silver and 56 bronze medals and we’re working to raise the bar again. Beyond performance, we deliver our vision and mission with dynamic leadership and innovation while demonstrating our values of inclusiveness, integrity, respect, and excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Functional Area Lead in the design and implementation of Sideline Champions activities for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
  • Assist in the delivery of obligations to Sideline Champion commercial partners as required.
  • Coordinate timely and accurate communication with registered family members and supports at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
  • Assist in delivering inclusive and well-organised events, spaces and services that celebrate the role of families and minimise athlete distractions.
  • Assist in the implementation of initiatives that strengthen family-team connections and create memorable, sharable moments.
  • Assist in liaising with Team Members, HQ Staff and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operational delivery.
  • Games Time Management of up to two Sideline Champion Assistants.
  • Support other departments and cross-functional teams as required.
  • Support and promote integrity in sport as it relates to anti-doping, safeguarding, irregular betting and match fixing and classification manipulation (para-sport).
  • During preparation and in Games Time adapt a mindset of proactive, collaborative and solution-focused problem solving.
  • Pre-emptive communication to CGA on any potential risks during planning or in Games Time.
  • Contribute to the overall Team culture, commitment to ensuring all Team Members have a positive experience and be an active role model for G2026 Team Behaviours.
  • Any other duties as required by the Chef de Mission, Team Executive, FA Lead or CGA CEO during the Games.

Desired Skills and Experience

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in sport, events or a fast-paced environment, with strong stakeholder and operational delivery skills.
  • Experience in developing family & friends support programs and/or community engagement initiatives and/or like events with a passion for contributing to meaningful participant and community experiences.
  • Able to travel to the UK and obtain a necessary Visa.
  • Working with Children Check (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated interest in the Commonwealth Games, its athletes and its impact on Australian communities.

  • Ability to remain calm while prioritising issues to resolve issues as they arise.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a variety of different teams and people to achieve a successful outcome.

  • If applicable, capacity to reassign any other professional commitments for the duration of the Games Time and any associated pre-Games duties during the Planning Phase.
