Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group's relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors and provides a full range of capital raising and risk management products and services. The division also performs an important internal role for the Group by providing FICC market, lending and capital markets execution capabilities to other CBA business units that allows them to capture opportunities with their customers.

Picture yourself in the team
In partnership with the MD, Head of FIG, this role is responsible for leading the ongoing relationship strategy and coordinating product delivery, financial performance and non-financial risk management across International Banks, Central Banks and Public Institutions. You will lead a geographically dispersed team across London, New York, Amsterdam, Singapore and Beijing, driving aligned execution, consistent client coverage and strong risk discipline across all jurisdictions.
Your main responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a global coverage strategy aligned to business objectives, risk appetite and return targets.
- Lead coordinated global account planning to ensure consistent, high-quality client engagement across London, Amsterdam, New York, Beijing and Singapore.
- Build and maintain senior C-suite relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on strategic, capital, liquidity and regulatory matters.
- Originate and deliver complex cross-border transactions in partnership with product teams, providing integrated client solutions.
- Optimise portfolio performance through effective capital allocation, balance sheet management and risk-adjusted returns.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing global team, driving collaboration, accountability and a strong “one team” culture.
- Coach and develop talent with a focus on leadership capability, succession planning and diversity and inclusion.
- Establish robust governance frameworks, including pipeline management, portfolio oversight and performance tracking.
- Act as first line of defence for credit, regulatory and reputational risk, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Oversee credit quality and portfolio monitoring, proactively identifying and managing emerging risks across jurisdictions.
We are interested in hearing from you if you have:
- Demonstrated executive-level interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to operate credibly with C-suite stakeholders internally and externally across multiple jurisdictions.
- Proven track record of originating and leading complex, cross-border transactions leveraging a broad range of the Bank’s capabilities, including Debt Capital Markets, Global Markets, Transaction Banking and Trade Finance.
- Established experience building trusted senior client relationships through deep understanding of clients’ strategic, regulatory, capital and liquidity priorities, anticipating needs and positioning the Bank as a long-term strategic partner.
- Strong sector expertise within Financial Institutions, with a sophisticated understanding of the structural, regulatory and macroeconomic drivers impacting international banks.
- Demonstrated ability to mobilise internal networks and product partners to deliver against revenue, return on capital and NPAT objectives, with clear accountability for portfolio performance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of credit risk, non-financial risk, regulatory frameworks and KYC/AML requirements within a major financial institution, with a consistent track record of sound judgment and risk-balanced decision-making.
- Tertiary qualification in a Finance, Legal, STEM or similar degree.
