CommonAI CIC is a non-profit membership organisation, founded on a belief in collaborative engineering for the safe and responsible development of foundational AI technologies. A place where AI startups, enterprises large and small, public sector bodies and academia can share resources and knowledge, to co-develop and grow businesses, fast.

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Business Development Intern to join our team for the summer. This is a unique opportunity to work at an early-stage organisation at the centre of a vibrant start-up ecosystem. You will work directly with the leadership team, playing a crucial role in our growth strategy and building the foundational relationships that will help our community thrive.

As a Business Development Intern your responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with the leadership team to identify key individuals, academic institutions and enterprises. You will help establish and nurture relationships with them.
  • Assembling and iteratively refining compelling presentations, grant applications, and proposals tailored to different audiences—from highly technical researchers to potential funders and community partners.
  • Gathering, understanding, and communicating technical information from our engineering team. You will help us translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accessible language.
  • Researching potential markets, funding opportunities and strategic initiatives to help guide our strategic direction.

We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about technology and entrepreneurship. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas simply and effectively.
  • Strong analytical and research skills; you are naturally curious and love to learn.
  • A self-starter attitude, with the ability to work independently and take initiative in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build rapport and collaborate.
  • A demonstrable interest in Artificial Intelligence, open source communities, high-tech businesses and/or collaborative approaches to engineering challenges.
  • Previous experience creating presentations or proposals is a plus, but not required.

To be eligible for this position you must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree. This is a paid internship.
