Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) is looking for someone to join our Head Office Finance team as an Accounting Assistant. Our Finance team plays a key role in the operational success of our business; and the successful candidate will support our Controller, as well as take responsibility for key aspects of the accounts receivable process.

THE ROLE
Position: Accounting Assistant
Competition Number: CNS 2025-06-09a
Reports to: Controller (Finance)
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 0800 - 1400
Closing Date: July 1, 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Process Improvement Specialist with the following:
- The management of the Medical Benefits AR and work with HR to ensure AR is collected.
- The review of the Greenshield and Sunlife invoices and comparison to payroll remittances to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed.
- Support the Controller with the following:
- Bank reconciliations.
- Processing miscellaneous AR including benefits and training.
- Posting ID services revenues.
- Other duties as required and assigned.
- Accounts receivable project:
- Conduct account receivable reconciliations, investigating discrepancies such as short payments, overpayments, and unresolved balances.
- Collaborate with Billing, contracting, and Operations teams to resolve invoice discrepancies, rating errors, and contract inconsistencies.
- Act as a problem-solving expert, addressing challenges to prevent recurring issues.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, disputes, and resolutions.
Candidates must:
- Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
- Be eligible to apply for, and pass, Government of Canada Enhanced Reliability.
- Be able to communicate effectively in English.
Requirements:
