Are you an experienced and passionate early years professional ready to lead a dedicated team? We are looking for an inspiring Nursery Manager to join our children’s nursery in the heart of Forfar.
In this vital role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our nursery, ensuring we provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive and develop. You will lead our team of early years practitioners, working closely with families and external partners to deliver high-quality early learning and childcare.
About the Role
- Setting a clear and ambitious vision for the setting to provide high-quality, inclusive early learning and childcare to all.
- Overseeing the planning, delivery, and monitoring of the Curriculum for Excellence and “Realising the Ambition: Being Me!” national practice guidance.
- Leading the staff team, ensuring commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Managing day-to-day operations, including staff recruitment, supervision, and continuous professional development.
- Ensuring full compliance with Care Inspectorate standards, health and safety regulations, and infection control.
- Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies to support children’s individual needs, including those with Additional Support Needs (ASN) following the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) framework.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Qualifications: You must hold a degree or postgraduate qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Lead Practitioner/Manager level. Acceptable qualifications include BA Childhood Practice, Graduate Diploma in Childhood Practice, or an equivalent SCQF Level 9 qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Registration: You must be registered (or eligible to register) with the SSSC as a Lead Practitioner/Manager in a Day Care of Children Service.
- Experience: Significant experience working in early learning and childcare, with proven experience in a leadership or management role (such as Deputy Manager or Room Supervisor).
- Knowledge: Excellent working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence, Care Inspectorate Quality Framework, and current national early years legislation.
- Safeguarding: Must be approved for membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme run by Disclosure Scotland.
