As a People & Culture Advisor, you’ll take on a generalist role covering all aspects of People & Culture – guiding managers and team members, ensuring compliance with employment law and company policies, and promoting best practice in people management. You’ll also support the delivery of our People & Culture strategy and contribute to transformational projects across the business.

This is a full-time role, with part-time hours considered (minimum 33 hours per week).

Your responsibilities as a People and Culture Advisor will be:

  • Recruitment and talent – partnering with managers to attract, select, and onboard top talent, while driving inclusive practices and promoting opportunities across different channels.
  • Employee relations – managing cases such as performance, disciplinary, grievance, absence management and flexible working, ensuring fairness and compliance.
  • Advising and supporting managers and team members on policies, procedures, and people matters, ensuring a professional and confidential service.
  • Employee engagement & experience – enhancing the employee journey by gathering feedback, analysing engagement surveys, and driving wellbeing initiatives that help people feel supported, valued, and connected.
  • Payroll and reward – preparing and checking monthly payroll data in collaboration with our outsourced Payroll Bureau.
  • Projects and initiatives – supporting learning, change, wellbeing, and cultural programmes that make Commercial a great place to work.
  • Collaboration and development – working closely with the People & Culture team, supporting manager training, and mentoring the People & Culture Administrator.

About you

  • A genuine passion for People & Culture and for creating a positive employee experience.
  • Previous experience in a HR environment, ideally supporting with employee relations (ER) cases.
  • CIPD qualified (ideally Level 5), or a strong desire to work towards the qualification.
  • A discreet and professional approach, with the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially.
  • Confidence in advising managers on all areas of people management and development.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport and credibility at all levels.
  • Someone who thrives in a learning environment and keeps up to date with employment law and industry trends.
  • A motivated self-starter with a proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Highly organised, with excellent time management and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
