As an Accounts Payable Team Leader at Commercial, you will report to the Finance Manager and be responsible for ensuring that all financial transaction processing is completed accurately, efficiently and on time. You will lead, coach and develop the Accounts Payable team, setting clear objectives and providing training and support to ensure a high-quality service is delivered across the business.
As a key member of the Finance Management Team, you will support the department in achieving its objectives and delivering an excellent service to the business. Working closely with the Finance Director and Financial Controller, you will help identify, elevate and resolve any account variances in a timely and effective way.
Your responsibilities as an Accounts Payable Team Leader will be:
- Ensure all supplier invoices are processed and paid accurately and within agreed payment terms.
- Oversee the team’s KPIs, including supplier payments, risk processes and monthly reconciliations.
- Complete and review key reconciliations, including monthly aged creditors, supplier statements and other month-end reconciliations.
- Work with the wider accounting team to identify and correct errors, ensuring financial data remains accurate and reliable.
- Ensure supplier and internal queries are resolved promptly, with appropriate remedial action taken where needed.
- Implement, document and maintain best‑practice processes to support the smooth and efficient running of the team.
- Continually review processes to identify opportunities to streamline, automate and improve efficiency.
- Ensure individual accounting functions work together effectively and support strong financial controls.
- Create, lead and develop a high‑performing, engaged and collaborative team.
- Manage team‑related processes in line with HR, recruitment and payroll requirements.
- Build positive working relationships with key stakeholders, maintaining regular communication and responding to requests or performance issues in a timely manner.

- Strong knowledge and practical experience of Accounts Payable processes.
- Confident team leadership experience.
- You will communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, with good working knowledge of Excel.
- A proactive, patient and helpful approach when supporting colleagues, suppliers and internal customers.
