Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager - Electricity Networks

Yorkshire and North East England

Competitive Package + Car/Allowance + Benefits

Commercial Talent Solutions is recruiting for a fast-growing national power infrastructure contractor looking to strengthen its Networks commercial team across Yorkshire and North East England.

The position will take commercial responsibility for a regional portfolio of electricity-distribution schemes. The work includes substations, underground cabling, overhead lines, asset replacement, maintenance and associated civil engineering.

This is a broad, autonomous role rather than responsibility for one individual project. You will work closely with the regional operational leadership team, providing commercial direction across a number of live schemes and helping ensure contracts are properly understood, administered and commercially controlled.

The appointment could suit either an established Commercial Manager or a strong Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to take on wider responsibility.

Key responsibilities

  • Taking commercial ownership of a regional Networks portfolio.
  • Reviewing and administering NEC3, NEC4 and bespoke framework contracts.
  • Identifying contractual risks, liabilities and commercial opportunities.
  • Managing CVRs, forecasting, applications, cash flow and commercial reporting.
  • Controlling change, variations, final accounts and contractual notices.
  • Managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts.
  • Supporting client negotiations, dispute avoidance and contract close-out.
  • Working closely with operational teams to improve commercial performance.
  • Providing guidance and direction to the wider commercial team.

Candidate profile

  • Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager.
  • Strong contractor-side commercial experience.
  • Good understanding of NEC contracts and contract administration.
  • Experience managing CVRs, forecasting, change and client negotiations.
  • Background within power, utilities or civil infrastructure.
  • Electricity Networks or DNO framework experience would be highly beneficial but is not essential.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously and challenging operational decisions when required.

The business has grown significantly over the past two years and continues to invest across its regional commercial structure. The position offers genuine influence, long-term stability and further progression as the Networks portfolio expands.

The commercial team generally meets around twice per week from its Yorkshire office, alongside travel across the regional portfolio.
