The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the North East. The role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and public realm schemes, ranging in value from £2m up to £20m+, with some larger landmark projects also in the pipeline.
This is a regional opportunity with projects located across the North East, meaning you will be home every night without the need for nationwide travel.

The Role – Senior Quantity Surveyor
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial leadership on medium-to-large projects, supporting the financial and contractual management of schemes. You will work closely with project teams and provide guidance to junior members of the commercial function.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading commercial delivery on projects typically in the £5m–£20m+ range.
- Full administration of NEC contracts (Options A, B, C).
- Cost forecasting, reporting and production of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Subcontract procurement, management, and payment.
- Change management and commercial risk identification.
- Client and stakeholder liaison on all commercial matters.
- Mentoring and supporting QS, Assistant QS, and trainee staff.
What We’re Looking For
- Experienced Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor with a track record in civil engineering.
- Previous experience working for a principal civils contractor on schemes in the £2m–£20m+ value range.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contract administration.
- Ability to take ownership of projects while working collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Preference for candidates with long-term career stability and sustained project delivery experience.
