We’re looking for a customer-focused and detail-oriented Customer Support Officer to The Education People, part of Commercial Services Group (CSG). This is a key role delivering high-quality support and advice to schools, academies, and trusts across Kent and beyond. School financial management is essential to educational success. As a Customer Support Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our clients receive prompt, accurate, and practical support. You’ll be the first point of contact on our helpdesk, providing guidance on financial procedures, supporting software systems, and helping schools maintain compliance and best practice in managing their resources.

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as the first point of contact on our helpdesk, delivering excellent customer service via phone and email
  • Advising on school financial procedures, including budgeting, monitoring, and account closure
  • Maintaining and updating key financial resources and documentation
  • Supporting and administering financial information systems and school software platforms
  • Assisting in reconciling invoicing records and managing balances held on local authority accounts
  • Helping schools process VAT claims and capital loan repayments
  • Contributing to the promotion of Schools Financial Services products in line with our marketing strategy
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of software tools
  • Ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards and data protection regulations

What we’re looking for

  • A relevant financial qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Previous experience in a finance or customer service role, ideally within education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and finance-related systems
  • Well-developed organisational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • An understanding of school finance systems and public sector financial regulations
  • A proactive, professional approach with a strong focus on accuracy and service
