As a Careers Hub Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in connecting schools, colleges, employers and stakeholders to deliver lasting impact for young people across the region. Careers Hubs are a national initiative led by The Careers & Enterprise Company, bringing together schools, colleges, employers, local authorities and providers to improve careers education for 11–18-year-olds. Why this role matters The Careers Hub Lead plays a vital role in driving sustainable system change in careers education. By uniting schools, colleges, businesses and local authorities, the Hub ensures young people are better prepared for their futures and that education aligns with local economic and skills needs. Through strong leadership and collaboration, the Careers Hub Lead ensures that young people can access opportunities that genuinely transform their life chances. What you’ll be doing Provide inspirational leadership by setting a vision and long-term strategy for the Careers Hub with clear, measurable outcomes. Build and implement a strategic plan that aligns careers provision with local economic and skills priorities while meeting national Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) objectives. Lead, develop and retain a multi-disciplinary team and volunteers to deliver high-quality careers provision in schools and colleges. Engage and influence senior leaders across education, business and local government to support collaboration and system change. Oversee contract, financial and risk management to ensure compliance with the Grant Funding Agreement and partner expectations. Drive innovation, quality assurance and continuous improvement across the Hub’s work. Evidence and showcase the impact of the Hub locally and nationally, positioning it as a beacon of best practice. Support peer-to-peer learning, share best practice with other Hubs, and contribute to shaping careers education at a national level. What we’re looking for Proven experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams with diverse stakeholders. Strong track record of strategic planning, delivery and performance management. A strong track record of communicating with a variety of audiences, preferably in the education and careers sector. Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders across sectors. Knowledge of local and national skills, education and economic policy. Demonstrated success in contract management, fiscal responsibility and risk management. Confident communicator, able to inspire and influence audiences at all levels. Highly organised, resilient and comfortable working in complex, changing environments. Passionate about improving outcomes for young people through education and careers provision.
