As our Service Design and Transition Lead, you will shape how IT services are designed, transitioned and embedded across a fast-paced technology organisation, with real influence over service quality, operational readiness and long term value for our customers.

Why this role matters
The Service Design and Transition Lead will manage and lead the Service Design & Transition teams, ensuring they deliver excellent service design, manage transitions, oversee change management, testing and facilitate service introduction. They will also take ownership of the Service Design and Transition strategy, standards and governance, ensuring these are consistently aligned with organisational objectives, architectural framework, and defined risk tolerance.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the Service Design and Transition teams, setting direction and ensuring consistent delivery.
- Own service design and transition policies, standards and governance across the organisation.
- Ensure services are designed with operational readiness, security, resilience and support in mind.
- Work with project delivery teams to ensure services are ready for live operation.
- Define and enforce entry criteria to improve quality and reduce late stage risk.
- Confirm service readiness including testing, documentation, training and early life support.
- Control change and release activity to protect the stability of live services.
- Act as an escalation point for service risk, conflict and delivery issues.
- Drive continuous improvement across service design, change, release and transition processes.
What we’re looking for
- Extensive experience in IT service design, transition and service management.
- Strong people management experience with the ability to lead and develop teams.
- Proven background in managing change, testing and service introductions.
- Experience working within complex change programmes.
- ITIL Foundation (essential)
- Ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Clear and practical communication style across technical and non-technical audience.
- Calm and structured approach to risk, control and decision making.
