Commercial Services group is an international organisation that has a superb opportunity for a part-time Occupational Health Physician. The role is home-based, and there may be a requirement to visit client sites covering a wide geographical area within Kent, Sussex, and Essex, as well as occasional visits to the head office in West Malling, Kent.

Commercial Services Group, Staff Care Services provide Occupational Health services to the education sector, NHS, and local authorities.

Job Purpose:

  • To provide an efficient, confidential, and comprehensive occupational health service, underpinned by clinical excellence, to our clients and contribute towards the strategy and leadership of the OH service.
  • To contribute towards achieving OH standards and objectives.
  • Ensure high professional standards, best practice, and quality are maintained in the delivery of occupational health interventions.
  • Provision of appropriate professional evidence-based advice to clients to assist them in effectively managing employee absence and promoting workplace settings conducive to wellbeing.

About the role:

  • As an Occupational Health Physician at Staff Care Services, work locations can include working from home, from the Staff Care Services clinic, or from a client site.
  • Provide both written and verbal advice to referring managers/HR personnel to support case management and produce management reports.
  • Provide advice on ill health retirement and health surveillance.
  • Assess health surveillance cases.
  • Undertake case conferences, absence reviews, and case reviews.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of OH standards and strategies.
  • Represent OH externally as required, ensuring the reputation of the business is upheld.
  • Participate in any Occupational Health quality assurance processes to support clinical governance.

Requirements:

  • A qualified Occupational Health Physician (OHP) with a valid General Medical Council (GMC) Registration.
  • Minimum Diploma in Occupational Medicine (Dip Occ Med); higher Occupational Medicine qualifications such as AFOM, MFOM, and FFOM welcomed, ideally with experience in NHS.
  • A Medical Practitioner who has, since full registration, consolidated their skills and continued their medical education in line with the requirements of continuing medical education/continuing professional development.
  • Preferably (not essential) HSE appointed (e.g. Ionising Radiation, Asbestos, Lead).
  • Preferably have certification to undertake Tier 4 HAVS assessment.
  • Effective communicator with strong listening and empathetic skills, as well as the ability to influence and engage with others.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Experience dealing with complex health issues.
  • Full Driving License and access to own transport.
  • IT literate.
  • Effective report writing skills.
  • Aware of Health & Safety legislation and Health Surveillance requirements under COSHH.
