Salary: £30k-£34k OTE

Our client is seeking an efficient and reliable Vehicle Fitter to work in our factory, near Peterborough. The role requires a minimum of 2 years mechanical engineering experience and 2 years experience in automotive 12-volt and 48-volt electrical circuits. Welding would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.

As a Fitter for the UK's largest manufacturer of industrial electric vehicles, you will work in the Factory team, producing a wide range of vehicles. Working on the front line of production, you will help maintain the high standards our customers expect. The job is challenging and interesting, with a lot of variation. You will be responsible for building our own vehicles, as well as for the maintenance and repair of the rental fleet. The vehicles are used across a wide variety of industries, including oil rigs, motor manufacturing, airports, hospitals, golf courses, wildlife parks, atomic plants, power stations, and more.

Experience and requirements:

  • 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, gained in automotive, power generation, aviation, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in electrical fault finding, repair, and general maintenance of machinery.
  • Welding experience is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Ability to communicate clearly on technical issues.
  • Comfortable prioritising tasks in a changing customer-driven environment.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team when required.
  • Clean driving license.
  • A positive can-do attitude, underpinned by an active 'roll the sleeves up' style.
  • Required to provide your own hand tools common to the trade; air tools required for the position will be supplied.

Day to Day Duties:

  • Actively participate in the on-the-job training program.
  • Build production vehicles as per given job cards.
  • Prepare or repair rental vehicles, as per given job cards.
  • Meet production build target hours.
  • Ensure compliance with the company Health and Safety Policy.

We offer:

  • Competitive rates - OTE £36-48k.
  • Basic hours of work: 39 per week - overtime offered.
  • Company profit share bonus scheme (minimum 1-year service to qualify).
  • 29 days holiday (including bank holidays).
  • Ongoing manufacture & in-house technical training.
