Commercial Recruitment is working with a well-established organisation within the insurance sector that is seeking an Infrastructure Analyst / Network Technician to join their IT team. This role requires strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in installing, maintaining, and supporting business network infrastructure to ensure system functionality and service availability.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and able to deliver a consistent, high-quality IT support service across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- IT Infrastructure Management
- Source, install, and maintain computer hardware and software across the organisation’s IT infrastructure.
- Maintain and support associated equipment including printers, scanners, servers, and networking hardware.
- Manage the sourcing, installation, and maintenance of telephone systems, call recording systems, and related software.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of photocopiers and other capital equipment used in daily business operations.
- Networking
- Diagnose and resolve network issues to ensure reliable connectivity and efficient user performance.
- Ensure all network cabling and connections are clearly labelled, traceable, and documented.
- Configure and maintain routers, firewalls, and other network devices to support current and future operational requirements.
- Server Management
- Manage and maintain both local and remote servers and server-based applications.
- Monitor hypervisors and virtual server environments to ensure business continuity and performance.
- Active Directory & Group Policy
- Maintain and manage the Active Directory and Group Policy structure.
- Administer user account creation, modification, and removal in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure security standards and access controls are maintained.
- Hardware Management
- Maintain a strong understanding of computer hardware to ensure IT equipment operates effectively.
- Monitor hardware performance and recommend upgrades or replacements where necessary.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all company hardware assets.
- Software Management
- Manage software installations and ensure all licensing is valid and compliant.
- Monitor licence renewals and software expiry dates to maintain business continuity.
- Maintain an inventory of all company software, including licensing details and access credentials.
- Documentation & Change Management
- Ensure all IT activities and changes are properly documented and traceable.
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and securely store passwords and sensitive information in approved systems.
- Ensure documentation is either password protected or stored in secure systems.
- Website Support
- Ensure company websites and related systems remain functional and up to date.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Ensure reliable data backup procedures are in place and functioning correctly.
- Maintain and regularly review the organisation’s disaster recovery plan.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis following system failures and document preventative actions.
- System Security
- Ensure appropriate antivirus and security protections are installed and maintained.
- Protect the physical security and integrity of servers and critical IT systems.
- Email Systems
- Maintain the organisation’s email systems, including support for mobile and remote users.
- Telephony & Call Recording
- Ensure telephone systems and call recording solutions are fully operational.
- Maintain correct day/night system configurations and messaging where required.
- Ensure recorded calls can be retrieved and traced when needed.
- Out-of-Hours Support
- Provide occasional on-call support for urgent IT issues that cannot wait until the next business day (rare occurrences).
- Project Support
- Assist with IT projects which may involve coordination with external suppliers, policy development, contract review, or process improvements.
- Database Maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of IT incidents and activities within the organisation’s issue management systems.
