Role Description
This is a full‑time, hybrid Business Development Manager role based from Gateshead.
The role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with key clients and partners, and growing revenue across target sectors such as care, retail, hospitality, and education.
Day‑to‑day tasks include prospecting and qualifying leads, preparing and delivering sales presentations and proposals, and managing the end‑to‑end sales cycle from initial contact through to contract negotiation and closure.
The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with operational and technical teams to shape service offerings, respond to tenders, and ensure accurate pricing and delivery commitments.
The role also includes monitoring market trends, maintaining an active sales pipeline, reporting on performance, and representing CMS at meetings, site visits, and industry events.
Qualifications
- Strong business development, sales, and account management skills, with experience in B2B environments.
- Ability to build and sustain client relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Familiarity with facilities management, commercial building services, or M&E maintenance is highly beneficial.
- Competence in using CRM systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), and basic data analysis for reporting.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, including pipeline management and prioritization of opportunities.
- Proactive, results‑focused mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Experience preparing proposals, responding to tenders, and working to commercial targets and KPIs.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites when required.
- Relevant qualification in business, sales, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
