The Role
Study Skills Tutor (ASC) based at Buckinghamshire New University, offering a hybrid approach to supporting students with Autism.
The role requires both online and in‑person support.
Responsibilities
- Understanding assignment expectations – help students to interpret ambiguous or complex questions and break them down.
- Structuring essays and coursework – develop logical essay plans and organise ideas into clear arguments.
- Managing academic reading.
- Executive functioning for coursework – realistically block, estimate and manage time.
- Academic writing skills.
- Notetaking and processing information.
- Support for exams and assessments – interpret questions and structure responses, utilising reasonable adjustments.
Qualifications
- A university degree.
- Teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, AFHEA, Cert Ed, DELTA.
- Relevant professional body membership with BDA, PASSHE, PATOSS or the Dyslexia Guild.
- Training in Autism such as the NAS modules.
