The Role

Study Skills Tutor (ASC) based at Buckinghamshire New University, offering a hybrid approach to supporting students with Autism.

The role requires both online and in‑person support.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding assignment expectations – help students to interpret ambiguous or complex questions and break them down.
  • Structuring essays and coursework – develop logical essay plans and organise ideas into clear arguments.
  • Managing academic reading.
  • Executive functioning for coursework – realistically block, estimate and manage time.
  • Academic writing skills.
  • Notetaking and processing information.
  • Support for exams and assessments – interpret questions and structure responses, utilising reasonable adjustments.

Qualifications

  • A university degree.
  • Teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, AFHEA, Cert Ed, DELTA.
  • Relevant professional body membership with BDA, PASSHE, PATOSS or the Dyslexia Guild.
  • Training in Autism such as the NAS modules.
