Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee all commercial and cost management aspects of multiple new build housing developments based from their Swanley office. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the company\’s exacting standards, while providing commercial insight and leadership to junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Managing all commercial activities across allocated residential developments from inception through to completion.
  • Preparing, managing, and monitoring project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Overseeing subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and management, ensuring best value is achieved.
  • Assessing and approving subcontractor valuations and payments.
  • Producing accurate monthly cost reports and cashflow forecasts.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, providing strategic advice to senior management.
  • Working closely with site teams, technical, and buying departments to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Managing and mentoring Assistant or Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures, policies, and health & safety standards.
  • Effectively using COINS software for project cost control and financial reporting.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a residential developer or main contractor environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of COINS software is essential.
  • Excellent understanding of commercial processes, construction contracts, and procurement routes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to visit sites across Kent and the South East.

Salary and benefits
