Your expertise will help ensure CET remains financially sustainable, well-governed, and able to maximise its impact for young people.
By supporting the Finance and Administration Committee, you will help Trustees make informed decisions, maintain strong financial stewardship, oversee investment assets responsibly, and ensure that charitable funds are managed effectively to achieve CET's mission.
This is an opportunity to use your professional skills to support a charity making a meaningful difference while gaining valuable experience of charity governance. For some individuals, this role may also provide a pathway to future Trustee opportunities. There will also be opportunity to visit projects, events, training, networking, governance experience, etc.
What are we looking for?
As an Advisor to the Finance and Administration Committee, you will provide independent financial insight and challenge to support the Trustees in fulfilling their governance responsibilities.
Working alongside the Committee Chair, Trustees, and Director of Operations & Finance, you will help oversee the charity's financial health, budgetary and financial controls.
Key responsibilities
- Attending four FAC meetings per year (primarily online, with occasional in-person meetings).
- Reviewing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
- Providing independent advice on financial strategy, governance, and risk management.
- Supporting oversight of CET's investment portfolio and investment manager performance.
- Reviewing financial policies, controls, and compliance arrangements.
- Bringing specialist expertise to support sound decision-making and long-term sustainability.
- Contributing to discussions on reserves, cashflow, investments, and financial planning.
