The Opportunity:

We are seeking two Engineering Managers to lead their team through people and technical leadership with a dedication to mentorship, knowledge sharing, cultivating belonging, and collaboration. These roles are open due to team splits (we want it to be a valuable experience for all!) and internal movement to exciting new roles. We\’d love to learn about your background and interests, then align together on what team suits you best.

Teams:

  • Customers: Provides customers the means to model and manage their customers, both in B2C and B2B scenarios.
  • Developer Enablement: Building Software Development Kits (SDKs), Platform Insights, and API extensibility tools for commercetools developers.
  • Search: Develops customer-facing search APIs for the purpose of product catalog discovery, using Scala and Elasticsearch.

    • You foster a culture of mutual constructive feedback and support in your team and that everyone feels safe to express their ideas and suggestions
    • You conduct great 1-1 with your engineers
  • Delivery & Processes
    • You are crucial for getting things rolling and ensuring a smooth delivery
    • You are removing blockers and seeking process improvements collaboratively with your team and your Product Manager
  • Champion our tech vision and consult the engineers accordingly
  • Collaborative with Engineering Managers of other teams, Tech Leads, Agile Coaches, a People Business Partner, Head of Engineering, and the CTO

What you need to succeed:

  • Multiple years of experience as a manager of software engineers in a distributed product team
  • An engineering background with ability to hands-on code
  • Capable of hands-on coding where possible (e.g. review PRs, smaller tasks, pairing), software architecture, and system design
  • Track record and passion for growing, coaching, and mentoring your team
  • An excellent understanding of agile software development methodologies, best practices, and tools. You know their trade-offs and how they can support a smooth delivery of your team’s goals
  • Excellent communication skills and an empathetic and self-reflective mindset
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills to work in an international environment
  • Commitment to knowledge sharing and learning from everyone around you about leadership and new technologies

  • Experience in the commerce industry
