The Opportunity

commercetools is seeking a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to lead the positioning, messaging, and go‑to‑market strategy for the commercetools Platform (the foundation and technical backbone of all our offerings), as well as related add‑on products (Payment Hub and AI Hub) and ecosystem enablers (Agent Gateway, integrations and connectors). This role requires a strong hands‑on understanding of modern AI platforms and architectures. You will work closely with Product and Engineering on AI‑powered capabilities, including large language models (LLMs), agentic systems, model orchestration, and AI platform integrations. Success in this role depends on being AI‑literate enough to understand how these systems work, not just how to market them. You’ll help define and communicate the value of our connected commerce ecosystem, empowering customers, partners, and developers to innovate faster and smarter. You will be creative in explaining complex technical concepts to a breadth of personas with various technical aptitude levels, analytical in using available data and research to determine positioning and messaging that resonates, and communicative in leveraging internal knowledge bases to understand our product offering fully. You’ll translate complex, technical concepts, from composable architecture to next‑generation agentic commerce into compelling stories that inspire adoption and differentiation in the market. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and GTM leadership, you’ll shape how we bring innovation to life across our portfolio.

Your Impact

As our Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager, you’ll support the Product Marketing team by leading cohesive narratives and go‑to‑market strategies across the commercetools Platform, add‑on capabilities, and ecosystem enablers, highlighting business and technical value for multiple audiences. You will:

  • Champion the commercetools Platform, refining its differentiated positioning to drive awareness, adoption, and revenue growth.
  • Lead messaging and GTM for add‑on capabilities across the Platform, Payment Hub, AI Hub, Agent Gateway, integrations, and connectors, ensuring cohesive narratives that highlight business and technical value.
  • Articulate and evangelize the vision of agentic commerce, helping customers and partners understand how emerging AI concepts and autonomous agents are transforming the future of digital commerce.
  • Translate complex AI platform concepts, including LLMs, agent orchestration, MCP/ACP‑style protocols, model routing, tool invocation, and API‑driven orchestration, into clear, differentiated value propositions for technical and business audiences.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our customers, partners, and developer audiences, uncovering insights that inform messaging, content, and product direction.
  • Own joint value propositions with strategic partners (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS, MongoDB, and others) to amplify our technical credibility and ecosystem advantage.
  • Drive joint value propositions with technology partners (Microsoft, OpenAI) and ISVs.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape launch strategies for new platform capabilities, integrations, and AI‑powered features, understanding architectural trade‑offs, constraints, and real‑world implementation considerations.
  • Drive adoption and enablement through clear, technically grounded content from sales collateral and demos to customer stories and industry thought leadership.
  • Partner across GTM, Product, and Marketing teams to align on strategic priorities, messaging, and launch plans that elevate commercetools’ market leadership.
  • Identify market opportunities through an understanding of industry, customer, and competitive trends.

This role is hybrid, with three days a week spent in our Berlin, Munich, London or Valencia office.

  • Ability to reason about how AI systems interact with platforms, data, and external services, including limitations, latency, security, and compliance considerations.
  • Comfortable collaborating with engineers on AI topics and asking the right technical questions to produce accurate, credible messaging.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced, highly cross‑functional, global organization.
  • Strategic thinker who builds deep product knowledge, influences roadmaps, and develops compelling launch plans.
  • Ability to enable and educate internal audiences to drive meaningful, actionable content.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills, turn data into a story and a story into a presentation.
  • Proven ownership mindset with excellent project management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Track record of turning deliverables into repeatable processes that scale product marketing.
  • AI Aptitude: A genuine curiosity for using AI tools to work smarter and more effectively, paired with a drive to learn and put them into practice in your role.
