You will serve as a Regional Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer in the Regional Security Directorate of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK.

Duties:

  • You will provide guidance to various Command departments/divisions and monitor compliance with the regional information, personnel and industrial security programs.
  • You will administer Information and Personnel Security education and awareness programs within the Commands within the area of responsibility.
  • You will consult with the Commanding Officers on incidents or actions that may adversely affect national security.
  • You will administer and implement Personnel Information and Industrial Security guidance, policies and procedures per SECNAV and DOD instructions.
  • You will conduct high complex annual technical assessments program reviews of physical security systems and Anti-Terrorism (AT) readiness at regional activity installments to ensure compliance with Department of Defense of Navy AT/FP instructions.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
  • Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position.
  • You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Direct, operational experience in antiterrorism, force protection, physical security, or a closely related law enforcement or intelligence field.
  • Conducting terrorism threat analysis, criticality assessments, and comprehensive vulnerability assessments.
  • Planning for and responding to a range of terrorist and criminal incidents.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with law enforcement agencies and/or intelligence agencies.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities, with skill in briefing senior leadership staff on complex security matters.
