Electromotive Equipment Mechanic

You will serve as an ELECTROMOTIVE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the Maintenance division of NAVAL AIR TERMINAL.

Duties:

• You will test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate various types of complex electrically and mechanically controlled industrial equipment.
• You will perform and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.
• You will provide electronic and technical assistance to solve problems.
• You will inspect all systems and components for condition and proper operation.

Requirements:

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
• You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
• A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test.
• You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This is a Mission Essential position.
• You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• Employee must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

• Reassembling equipment after completing test and repairs;
• Repairing terminal connections, steering assemblies, and test commutations when necessary;
• Inspects electrical circuits for grounds, faulty wiring, and defects.

• May be required to obtain/maintain a Category II Bridge Crane license to operate and provide maintenance support to the same.
