The predicted salary is between 45960 - 45960 £ per year.

Hours per week, Permanent Post £37,104 - £45,960 per annum, inclusive of £2,398 Distant Islands Allowance per annum.

The purpose of this post is to contribute to overall school effectiveness in respect of the following areas:

The successful candidate must have an appropriate degree / diploma and GTC Scotland Registration. Subject to the policies of the school and the education authority, the duties of teachers are to perform such tasks as the headteacher shall direct having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to the following categories:

  • Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction.
  • Developing the school curriculum.
  • Assess, recording and reporting on the work of pupils.
  • Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with the administration of examinations.
  • Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
  • Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
  • Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
  • Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development.
  • Participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review.
  • Contributing to good order and the wider needs of the school.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children. An additional payment is offered to successful applicants under the Comhairle’s recruitment incentive scheme. This will be £8,000 in total, paid in two instalments; £5,000 will be paid on commencement of employment with the remaining £3,000 being paid on completion of 3 years’ satisfactory service. Teachers leaving the employment of the Comhairle during the first 3 years will be liable to repay an element of the payment.

Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.

Closing Date: Monday 31 August 2026. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade. Please note that sponsorship is not available, or being offered, in connection to this post.
