This post provides support for children with additional support needs. Duties include:

  • working in mainstream classes, assisting pupils with school work, under the direction of class teacher;
  • supervision of children at intervals and lunch breaks;
  • assisting in the management of children and young people with behavioural difficulties.

You must have:

  • experience of working with children, as a parent or in a voluntary or professional capacity;
  • an understanding of the basic needs of children;
  • the ability to co-operate with others and work effectively as a member of a team;
  • a patient, cheerful personality with a flexible, open and caring approach.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children.

Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.

Hours are on an as and when required basis. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
