The Education & Children’s Services Department is seeking to add to its list of persons who are willing to act as Relief Janitors in Barra Schools. Relief cover may be required on Saturdays as well as during the week, therefore if you are only available on Saturdays you should also apply. Hours as and when required.
Duties include:
- Carrying out security procedures for school buildings and grounds, including keyholder responsibilities;
- Handyperson duties;
- Day-to-day operation and routine maintenance of boilers and heating plant as instructed;
- Preparing classrooms/halls for school and/or public use;
- School crossing patrol;
- Supervision of community lets outwith school hours;
- Providing assistance and carrying out new duties where any new property compliance testing regime is introduced for school premises.
You should have an understanding of janitorial duties in a school with an organised and effective approach to the full range of duties. Experience of handyperson duties and both the knowledge and ability to carry out routine maintenance on plant and school equipment is required. You must have an understanding of Health & Safety issues. You must have the ability to supervise pupils.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with children.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. It is vital you read the job description and person specification; in your experience statement please detail how you meet each of the essential criteria we ask for in the person specification.
