Overview

Project Officer - Islands Centre for Net Zero, Western Isles. 37 hours per week, Fixed Term until 31 March 2029. Salary £38,452 to £42,465 per annum (inclusive of £2,859 Distant Islands Allowance per annum).

A Project Officer is required to support the delivery of the Island Growth Deal funded Islands Centre for Net Zero project in the Outer Hebrides, in collaboration with delivery partners. The role focuses on maximising and implementing capital and research & development decarbonisation projects across the Islands to accelerate the Outer Hebrides net zero ambitions.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with ICNZ delivery partners and stakeholders, locally and across partner Islands Growth Deal areas/organisations.
  • Establish active engagement and knowledge-sharing practices across the local decarbonisation landscape to maximise ICNZ initiatives and opportunities.
  • Compile, assess and process claims for the ICNZ OH Project and delivery partners, ensuring compliant audit processes and good budget monitoring.
  • Understand net zero aims and local issues affecting uptake of initiatives; be aware of key economic and community issues in the Outer Hebrides and policy actions related to energy and climate change.
  • Demonstrate strong oral communication skills to present information to diverse audiences, including those facing barriers to adoption of net zero.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and time-management skills to manage a diverse workload, meet targets and deadlines, organise events, publicity and evaluation; multi-task across a range of projects.

  • Proven organisational and multi-tasking abilities to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.

Salary and terms

Salary is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade. 37 hours per week, fixed term until 31 March 2029.
