ADVERT: Archive Project Officer (Gaelic), Tasglann nan Eilean, Lews Castle 29.6 hours per week, Fixed Term for 16 Months £31,875 to £35,193 per annum (inclusive of £2,397 Distant Islands Allowance) Applications are invited for the post of Archive Project Officer (Gaelic) based at Tasglann nan Eilean , Lews Castle, Stornoway. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of the Gaelic Archives Consortium Project, working to catalogue, preserve and promote important Gaelic archive collections. The postholder will contribute to the creation of a bilingual archive catalogue, undertake research into archival collections, support preservation and digitisation work, and assist in the delivery of a programme of community engagement activities including workshops, talks and exhibitions. You will work closely with project partners, including The Highland Archive Centre, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and the Scottish Council on Archives, supporting the development of Gaelic archival terminology and helping to improve access to archive collections of local and national significance. We are looking for someone who is fluent in spoken and written Gaelic and holds a degree-level qualification, with experience of developing and delivering activities. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong ICT skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You should have a good understanding of the history and culture of the Western Isles, together with knowledge of the role of archives and/or museums, and experience of managing information and maintaining accurate records. A full UK driving licence is essential. Appointment to the post is fixed term for 16 months. This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children ( Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot ).
