Metroline needs a Project Manager to lead the delivery of our most important technology initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades, application implementations, cloud, data and business change. This is a senior, hands-on delivery role for someone from a consulting, systems integration or enterprise transformation background who is used to walking into an unfamiliar environment and delivering fast, often before everything is neatly defined. You'll report to the PMO Manager and own multiple projects end to end, working within the PMO's governance framework and trusted to drive delivery with minimal direction from day one.
Main Responsibilities
- Delivery
- Own the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent technology and transformation projects, from initiation through to go-live and benefits realisation.
- Define scope, goals, deliverables and success criteria, and hold the project and its stakeholders to them.
- Run the full delivery lifecycle: requirements and functional specification, build, data migration, testing, cut-over and operational handover.
- Planning & Control
- Build and maintain robust project plans, milestone schedules and delivery roadmaps, forecasting accurately and keeping delivery on track.
- Own the RAID log, actively driving mitigation, decisions and timely escalation rather than simply recording items.
- Manage project budgets and financials, working with budget holders to control and forecast spend.
- Work within the PMO operating model, with projects in Freshservice, RAID and plans in SharePoint, and weekly RAG and status reporting into Power BI.
- Suppliers & Stakeholders
- Manage third-party vendors, strategic partners and delivery teams, holding them to account for cost, quality and timelines, including supplier selection and contract delivery.
- Communicate credibly at every level, from technical teams to executive sponsors, surfacing problems early, driving decisions and translating between technical and business audiences.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 5 years' project management experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex technology, infrastructure and transformation projects, end to end, in enterprise environments.
- Experience delivering ERP transformation programmes, including system implementation, integration, migration or business process transformation, is highly desirable.
- Experience working within audit, controls, regulatory or compliance driven environments, with an understanding of governance and assurance requirements, is desirable.
- Consulting, systems integration or professional services background, comfortable delivering fast with limited context.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, bringing structure to complex programmes and imposing delivery discipline when a project lacks it.
- Proven managing multiple concurrent projects, third-party vendors and strategic partners.
- Strong on governance, financials, RAID, planning and reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder management up to executive / 'C' level, with the confidence to challenge and escalate.
- PRINCE2, APM or PMP qualified, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Transport, logistics or operationally critical sector experience is an advantage, not essential.
Competencies & Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to develop strong working relationships.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Self-sufficient and self-motivated.
- Have an awareness of the functions, operations and technology employed within Metroline.
- Able to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
- Strengths in logical analysis, and an ability to think creatively to deliver solutions.
- Skills in adapting, multi-tasking and troubleshooting.
Hours of work: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: Depending on Experience
