We’re looking for an experienced Compliance Assessor to join our operational delivery team. This is a key role responsible for ensuring compliance, quality, and safety standards are consistently met across our Civils, Cable, and Fibre programmes. As a trusted on-site expert, you’ll use your technical knowledge and operational experience to audit, coach, challenge, and support delivery teams and subcontractors—driving high standards, reducing risk, and improving overall performance. You’ll play a critical role in embedding a strong compliance culture while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across the business. This is a field-based role with regular travel to sites.

What you’ll do
- Conduct site audits and compliance assessments in line with company standards, client requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Review operational audits, providing constructive feedback and practical recommendations to improve compliance and reduce risk.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance, including inductions, qualifications, and certifications.
- Act as a senior compliance authority on site, challenging non-compliance and supporting corrective actions.
- Carry out core sampling and Clegg testing to assess quality of civils and reinstatement works.
- Analyse audit, coring, and Clegg data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide technical assurance and support to Supervisors and operational teams during site activities, JSI reviews, and defect management.
- Coach and mentor teams to improve technical capability, compliance awareness, and ownership.
- Support delivery of training, toolbox talks, and compliance briefings.
- Collaborate with internal teams to drive continuous improvement and consistency across projects.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
About you
- Extensive experience across Civils, Cable, and Fibre delivery, ideally at Supervisory or senior technical level.
- Strong background in compliance, auditing, quality assurance, and health & safety within telecoms or construction environments.
- Expert knowledge of SROH (Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways) and NRSWA / Street Works (Red Book).
- Proven ability to coach, influence, and challenge operational teams and leaders constructively.
- Confident working independently in fast-paced, high-risk environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance and compliance data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with subcontractors and multisite operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint) and relevant compliance systems.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
