Do you thrive on variety, splitting your time between indoor and outdoor challenges? We are on the hunt for dedicated and skilled Cable Operatives to join our Pre-enablement team. You will be crucial in building and maintaining cutting-edge telecommunications networks, directly connecting homes and businesses!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Building and maintaining new and existing core telecommunications access networks, including Copper, HFC, and overhead cables.
- Heavy cable pulling, spanning overhead lines, subducting, and blowing fibre.
- Working in diverse environments like cabinets, ducts, and on poles, often performing small reinstatement and garden works.
- Jointing cables in internal and external locations and precisely identifying cables for work.
- Engaging directly with customers, ensuring positive communication and timely completion of work.
Requirements:
- Highly health and safety conscious, always prioritising personal and public safety.
- Proficient in using internal and client systems to record risk assessments, daily whereabouts, and job progress.
- Experienced with Copper, HFC, and FTTP to client specifications.
- Able to identify and clear small blockages.
- Committed to ensuring all equipment, including tools, power tools, and test equipment, meets recognised safety standards.
- A professional and excellent communicator, interacting positively with service providers, end-users, the public, and Virgin Media employees.
- Dedicated to 'Right First Time' quality standards.
- Adept at timely submission of workflow requirements and updating internal teams on changes and task closure.
Skills & Qualifications You’ll Need:
- Sound practical knowledge and experience of Copper, HFC, and FTTP.
- NRSWA Unit 2 and PIA Accredited.
- Comfortable working with ladders, at height, and on poles.
- Basic IT skills and proficiency in using mobile apps.
- Practical experience using power tools such as drills, Stihl saws, and compressors.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- The ability to work to deadlines and respond positively to direction.
- A team player with a strong motivation for delivering quality work.
- Capable of prioritising, organising, and managing tasks in all weather conditions.
- Observational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Well-presented with good presentation skills.
- Must hold a Full UK Driving License.
