We're looking for a proactive and technically skilled
IT Field Technician to join our team.
This is a highly visible, field -based role that combines advanced technical support with infrastructure assessment and technology improvement across our operational locations throughout the UK.
As an IT Field Technician, you'll provide hands -on support to users, resolve complex technical issues, and conduct site -based assessments of IT infrastructure and equipment.
You'll investigate recurring problems, identify opportunities for improvement, and make recommendations on whether systems should be repaired, upgraded, optimised, or replaced.
This role will involve regular travel across the UK, including visits to offices, depots, and operational sites.
As such, flexibility and a willingness to travel extensively, including occasional overnight stays, are essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, travelling to different locations, and contributing to the continual improvement of IT services and infrastructure across the business.
What you'll do
- Travel extensively across the UK to provide onsite technical support and infrastructure assessments
- Respond to and resolve escalated technical issues across multiple company locations
- Support users with hardware, software, network, mobile device, and connectivity issues
- Act as an escalation point for complex IT incidents and service requests
- Conduct site visits to assess the condition, effectiveness, and performance of IT infrastructure and equipment
- Investigate recurring technical faults and identify root causes
- Assess whether equipment, systems, or infrastructure require repair, upgrade, optimisation, or replacement
- Produce recommendations and reports to support technology investment decisions
- Support infrastructure improvement plans and technology refresh programmes across company locations
- Log, prioritise, and manage incidents through the IT service management system
- Install, configure, and support Microsoft 365 applications and company -standard software
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including VPN and remote access technologies
- Set up hardware and software for new employees and support equipment deployments
- Maintain IT asset registers and inventory records
- Support system maintenance, endpoint management, software updates, and security compliance activities
- Assist with information security processes, including access reviews and incident investigations
- Deliver basic user training and guidance on IT systems and business applications
- Contribute to knowledge bases, FAQs, and support documentation
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across multiple business functions and locations
- Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and security standards
About you
- Experience in an IT Support, Infrastructure Support, Field Engineer, or similar technical role
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex issues
- Experience supporting multiple sites and remote users
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast -paced environment
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem -solving abilities
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering excellent service
- Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in a changing environment
- Strong relationship -building skills with stakeholders at all levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Power BI
Requirements
- What you'll need
- Previous experience in IT support, infrastructure support, field engineering, or a similar technical environment
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows operating systems
- Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, infrastructure, and connectivity issues
- Ability to identify recurring technical problems and recommend long -term solutions
- Experience supporting multiple sites and geographically dispersed users
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
- Degree in IT, Computing, or related field (desirable) or equivalent experience
- Fluent English
