Join our dynamic team as a Store Operative at our busy Depot in Nottingham. This role is crucial to supporting our field engineering teams who are carrying out the installation of vital ducting and cabling for telecommunications across the East Midlands. You will be the backbone of our operations, primarily responsible for maintaining material stocks and equipment for all field and network engineering activities. You will manage the entire lifecycle of our inventory, from drawing down materials and placing call-off orders to ensuring stock levels are always available and accurate for scheduled works.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Stock & Inventory Management
    • Conduct a full monthly stock audit and ensure stock accuracy is maintained at all times.
    • Ensure all movements of stock are transacted electronically in real time.
    • Control the audit of all incoming material from suppliers.
    • Prepare material for point of use in accordance with written instructions.
    • Manage and report on material shortages.
    • Enforce Comex2000 procedures for stock and asset control.
  • Warehouse & Depot Operations
    • Assist loading and unloading civils and cable gang vehicles.
    • Enforce good housekeeping disciplines to maintain excellent yard management and organisation.
    • Ensure site security is maintained throughout the day to ensure stock integrity.
    • Organise and control the issue of plant line equipment.
    • Observe and maintain safe working systems within the work cells, reporting any Health and Safety issues.
  • Logistics & Administration
    • Prepare shipments for dispatch and organise all relevant paperwork.
    • Liaise effectively with couriers and third parties.
    • Follow the delivery schedule to ensure all customer deliveries are met right first time and in full.
    • Liaise with Planning and Purchasing to resolve any plan-related issues.
    • Communicate with the Operations Manager regarding any staff behaviour issues in the yard or warehouse.

Requirements

  • A Methodical and thorough approach to work with a proven ability to multi-task whilst maintaining high standards of compliance.
  • Full Clean Driving License.
  • Telehandler Licence (Essential for site operations).
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate clearly and listen effectively.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate operational requirements.
