Field-Based Fibre Engineer – Join the Full Fibre Revolution with Comex 2000! Are you a hands-on, highly skilled FTTH Engineer ready to be at the forefront of connecting homes and businesses to the UK\’s next-generation network? Comex 2000 is looking for dedicated and experienced FTTH Engineers to install and maintain fibre optic services for residential customers. This field-based role puts you at the heart of our network build and customer activation, ensuring every customer gets a seamless, fully functional service.

Responsibilities

  • Physical fibre installation and network build tasks, including heavy cable pulling and subducting (placing protective ducts underground).
  • Blowing fibre through ducts with compressed air where appropriate.
  • Infrastructure work with cabinets, underground ducts, and overhead lines on utility poles (PIA network experience is key).
  • Internal cabling within homes and businesses, customer activation, final testing, and ensuring a Right First Time quality standard.
  • Site restoration and minor reinstatement to leave work sites in excellent order.
  • Health & Safety focus with site-specific risk assessments and adherence to safety standards for tools and equipment.
  • Installation and testing of end-user products across all common telecommunications networks (Full Fibre).
  • Professional conduct and excellent customer care when interacting with service providers, end users, and the public.
  • Timely and accurate completion of workflow requirements, recording changes, updates, and task closures in internal and client systems.
  • Delivery of KPIs and productivity targets.

Qualifications & Skills

  • NRSWA SLG and PIA accreditation.
  • Knowledge of both overhead and underground PIA network infrastructure.
  • Practical experience with power tools (e.g., drills, Stihl saws, compressors).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines in all weather conditions.
  • Desirable certifications: A001, S8, SA051C, SA002, SA007, S7, N022, SA020, N037, K008.
