Role Overview
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, the Graduate SHEQ & Compliance Officer will support the delivery of Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Facilities Compliance across the business. The role will assist in maintaining SHEQ systems, ensuring Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) compliance is monitored, and keeping the Integrated Management System (IMS) up to date in line with ISO standards and statutory requirements. Working with operational teams, the position will support compliance with company policies, procedures and contractual obligations while developing experience across SHEQ disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Responsibilities (Integrated SHEQ)
- Provide administrative and coordination support across Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Facilities Compliance activities.
- Maintain and control SHEQ documentation to ensure it is accurate, up to date and accessible.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of documentation and tracking of actions.
- Support compliance with legal, regulatory, insurance and corporate requirements.
- Capture, maintain and analyse SHEQ and compliance data to support reporting, performance tracking and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor SHEQ performance through dashboards and scorecards, identifying trends and supporting corrective actions.
- Support the promotion of SHEQ performance to internal and external stakeholders, including clients and regulators.
- Carry out duties in accordance with company policies, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Support the embedding of SHEQ culture across CFM by ensuring documentation is correctly maintained, updated and accessible (e.g. inductions, Tool Box Talks, procedures).
- Assist with incident reporting and investigations, including root cause analysis and tracking corrective actions.
- Support engagement with employees and subcontractors to promote safe working practices and compliance.
- Participate in site inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Support the delivery of SHEQ and wellbeing initiatives in collaboration with HR and operational teams.
- Support compliance with Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes by monitoring completion, tracking performance and escalating gaps where required.
- Assist in maintaining the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring documentation, records and registers are accurate, up to date and aligned to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Contribute to our positive "Win or Learn" culture through the logging, tracking and close-out of non-conformances and improvement actions.
- Support document control processes and ensure records are maintained in line with ISO requirements.
- Assist in audit preparation, execution and close-out of findings.
- Support performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives across operational activities.
- Support the delivery of the company Sustainability Strategy and environmental objectives.
- Maintain accurate environmental and waste management records, supporting compliance with environmental controls and legislation.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental controls, procedures and best practice.
- Promote environmental awareness and responsibility among employees and subcontractors.
- Support environmental audits and inspections.

- IMS Document Compliance: 98% of assigned IMS documents reviewed, accurate and up to date within required timescales
- PPM Compliance Monitoring: 95% PPM completion rate across assigned sites/contracts
- Audit & Action Close-Out: 90% of audit actions closed within agreed deadlines
- Data Accuracy & Reporting: 100% of SHEQ reports submitted on time, 98% data accuracy across systems and reports
- Non-Conformance / WoL Management: 100% of non-conformances logged within required timeframe, 90% of corrective actions closed on time
Education / Experience
- Degree (or working towards) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Environmental Management, Health & Safety, Engineering, Facilities Management or similar)
- Graduate membership or working towards IOSH (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of SHEQ principles and compliance requirements
- Awareness of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
- Interest in developing auditing and inspection skills (internal auditing experience advantageous but not essential)
- Understanding of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) compliance within a facilities management environment
- Ability to support the maintenance and updating of IMS documentation and records to ensure ISO compliance
- A full UK driving license is essential
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management systems
