ORGANISATION:
We are hiring on behalf of a leading global shipowner and shipping solutions provider, with a strong presence across Asia and Europe. The company is known for its focus on quality, safety, and sustainability, combining deep maritime expertise and advanced technologies to provide dependable services, build lasting partnerships, and create value for customers, crew, and communities worldwide. We are currently seeking a Fleet Compliance Manager to advise on international maritime regulations, emphasizing environmental compliance and supporting the fleet’s transition to sustainable fuels. Based in London, this position involves collaboration with regulatory bodies, classification societies on interpreting upcoming regulations, and 3rd party data technology solutions.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure fleet compliance with international and regional shipping regulations, including IMO conventions, EU regulations, and flag state requirements
- Provide expert guidance on alternative fuels, covering design, operations, bunkering, and safety
- Assess upcoming regulations and develop strategies for compliance and fleet decarbonization
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, classification societies, industry bodies, and technology partners
- Advise senior management on regulatory risks, opportunities, and sustainable shipping strategies
- Deliver training to enhance awareness of regulatory requirements across teams
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders on compliance and technology evaluations
- Evaluate third-party technologies and support the implementation of innovative solutions, including wind-assist propulsion and hull optimization
- Model vessel performance and emissions reduction impacts using CFD and empirical methods, and oversee full-scale trials
- Act as a subject matter expert on maritime decarbonization, contributing to long-term technical strategy
YOUR PROFILE:
- You must be a qualified Chief Engineer, or equivalent degree holder in marine/navigation
- At least 5 years’ experience in maritime regulatory affairs, environmental compliance, or related fields within shipping
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Fluid Dynamics, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Environmental Science, Law, or related field (Master’s degree or professional certifications preferred)
- Strong technical knowledge of hydrodynamics or vessel performance preferred
- Skilled in CFD software (ideally STAR-CCM+) and empirical performance methods
- Prior experience with a recognized classification society is preferred
- Strong network across the maritime industry
- Expertise in alternative fuels, regulations, and sustainable shipping practices
- Solid understanding of naval architecture, marine engineering, and vessel systems
- Proven ability to interpret emerging regulations and assess operational impact
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical and regulatory concepts
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset to drive compliance and strategic initiatives
