We are seeking to appoint a committed, dedicated and motivated Head of RPE with excellent subject knowledge who can combine academic knowledge and achievement with a passion for the subject to boost learning outcomes.
Job overview:
You’ll inspire students to achieve their full potential in RPE using a passion for language to deliver high quality and engaging interactive lessons that boost both written and spoken capabilities of students. A focus on learning and assessment and wider curriculum requirements is key as well as the ability to utilise your knowledge to positively impact progress within the subject.
Required Experience:
- The ability to teach RPE to GCSE and potentially A-Level
- Evidence of reflective practice and a willingness to learn and develop
- Some leadership experience though this may not be in a formal role
- A secure ability in IT and the ability to learn new skills as part of our blended learning approach

- Collaborative Planning Made Easy: Teams and OneNote make collaborative planning much easier ensuring that you’re never working alone. Your timetable includes planning preparation and assessment (PPA) time which is protected and can be spent at home.
- Extra Time for Curriculum Planning: Departments are supported with additional cover for curriculum planning time when needed.
- Flexibility: Staff are free to leave the site when not teaching and we cover staff for personal or medical appointments so you don’t have to worry about scheduling conflicts.
- Exam Board Marking During School Hours: Exam board marking can be completed during the school day where gained time allows and any gained time can be spent at home.
- Professional Development: We offer 2 INSET days at the start of the academic year and 2 at the end of an extended October half-term during which you’ll have the opportunity to visit other schools, gain new ideas and establish partnerships.
- CPD Pathways: Rather than data-driven performance management targets we allow staff to choose a CPD Pathway that best suits their personal development goals including participation in NPQs.
