WearelookingforaSeniorMakerspaceManager&Educatorwhocombinesstrongtechnicalfabricationskillswithapassionforteachingandcurriculumdevelopment.Thisisanin-person,hands-onleadershiprolewithinadynamicstart-upenvironment,withsignificantscopetogrowastheorganisationdevelops.
TheRole
WorkingcloselywiththeCCO,youwilltakeownershipoftheday-to-dayrunningofthemakerspace,whilstalsoteaching,developingcurriculumandleadingasmallteam.
Youwillberesponsiblefor:
- Operating,maintainingandteachingstudentshowtouseawiderangeofspecialistmachineryandequipment.
- WorkingconfidentlywithAdobeIllustrator,Fusion360andTinkercad.
- Teachingandsupportingstudentswith3Dprinting,lasercutting,soldering,woodworkinganddyesublimation.
- Supportingcomputerscience,programmingandroboticsprojects.
- Developinganddeliveringengagingfabricationandmakerspacecourses.
- Creatinginnovative,hands-oncurriculumforstudentsaged5-18.
- Developing"lowfloor,highceiling"projectsthatallowstudentswithdifferentabilitiestoengageandprogress.
- Ensuringexceptionalstandardsofsafety,hygieneandsafeguarding.
- Creatingclearmachineryguides,trainingmaterialsanddocumentationthatstudentscaneasilyunderstand.
- Managingandmentoringasmallteam,ensuringprojectsanddeliverablesarecompletedontime.
- Workingcloselywiththewiderteamtocreateinspiringin-personandhybridlearningexperiences.
- Supportingfamilyengagement,speakerseries,openhousesandotherevents.
- Workingwithleadershiptodevelopasustainable,future-focusedmakerspace.

Wearelookingforsomeonewhoistechnicallybrilliant,creativelycuriousandanexceptionaleducator.
Youwillideallyhave:
- 5+years'experienceteachingmachineryandfabrication.
- 3+years'experiencedevelopingcurriculum.
- Strongexperienceteachingstudentsaged5-18.
- Experienceteachingfabricationcoursesandworkingwithinamakerspaceorsimilarenvironment.
- Strongknowledgeof3Dprinting,lasercuttingandotherfabricationequipment.
- Experiencewith2D/3Ddesignsoftware.
- Knowledgeofprogramming,computerscienceandrobotics.
- Experienceworkingwithhigh-potentialstudents.
- Excellentinterpersonalandcommunicationskills.
- Strongorganisationalskillsandtheabilitytomanagemultiplepriorities.
- Aproactive,growth-mindedapproachandtheabilitytothrivewithinastart-upenvironment.

Thisisnotsimplyafacilitiesorworkshopmanagementrole.Itisanopportunitytohelpshapeanentirelynewapproachtolearning,combiningtechnology,fabrication,creativityandeducation.
Intheshortterm,youwillteachcourses,supportthestudioanddevelopyourunderstandingoftheorganisation'scurriculumframework.Longerterm,youwillhavetheopportunitytotakesignificantownershipofthemakerspaceandensureitssmoothoperationwhentheCCOisnotonsite.
Theorganisationoffersmentorship,trainingandgenuineopportunitiestodevelopintoaseniorleadershipposition,includingmanagingandmentoringstaff.
