The Corporate Taxation team is based in the UK, as part of Columbia Threadneedle Investments (CTI), and is responsible for Corporation Tax, VAT and Tax Reporting across EMEA and APAC. CTI is owned by Ameriprise Financial Inc and reports to the Ameriprise Chief Financial Officer. The team works closely with the Ameriprise tax team to proactively identify tax risks and ensure compliance. This role will provide an efficient and robust tax reporting and compliance environment for EMEA, APAC and the US parent. It involves liaison with auditors, quarterly/annual tax provisioning, tax reconciliations and preparing UK tax computations and returns. The position is based in Edinburgh with regular interaction with London and Swindon colleagues and occasional travel to those offices.

Key focus areas:

  • Support the Head of Tax Reporting – EMEA/APAC
  • Quarterly group tax provisioning for EMEA and APAC
  • Year‑end individual entity tax provisioning for EMEA and APAC
  • Monthly tax reconciliations for EMEA and APAC
  • Support the Head of UK Tax Compliance on UK tax computations, returns and payments
  • Assist the Senior International Tax Manager on EMEA/APAC‑related compliance and payment matters

Responsibilities:

  • Draft tax provisions for UK statutory accounts, including tax computations, notes and relief estimates
  • Calculate EMEA and APAC quarterly tax provisions and reconcile monthly tax accounts
  • Respond to external auditor requests and inquiries
  • Ensure UK computations and returns are finalised for HMRC submission before filing deadlines
  • Train and develop the Senior Corporate Tax Associate team member in India
  • Manage relationships and workflow with internal and external tax service providers
  • Calculate quarterly instalment payments for the UK group payment arrangement
  • Work closely with Finance to obtain information for overseas tax computations
  • Track external tax advisor fees
  • Maintain EMEA and APAC risk and control procedures
  • Monitor UK and international tax legislation, case law and accounting standards for impact on UK entities
  • Assist with ad‑hoc tax queries that arise in the business

Success factors:

  • Proven experience in corporation tax compliance, provisioning and audit within a multinational corporate group is strongly preferred
  • Initiative and proactive tax risk management
  • Adept at managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills applying tax technical knowledge to accounting and source data
  • Excellent Excel skills

Additional desirable experience:

  • Experience in the Financial / Asset Management industry
  • Professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g. CIOT, ICAS, ICAEW) or a working towards one
  • Familiarity with Workday, OneSource and Longview – training will be provided if not

Working arrangement: 4 days per week from the Edinburgh office, 1 day per week working from home.
